Which Chemical Toilet Fluids?

What Toilet Fluid Do I Use?

If you are like me, you don’t have a clue what toilet fluid to use in your campervan, motorhome or caravan toilet. Blue, Green, Pink, what’s all that about! Why do I have to use these? Why can’t I just use water? I can't find anywhere on the internet that tells you the basics of what colour is for what. Well hopefully this will put my mind and your minds at rest to why we need these bottles of coloured fluids and what they are for. Plus where they go in our onboard toilets. Our toilets are not plumbed in like at home so we need to use these fluids to breakdown the waste.

Let’s take a look at the colours and where they go

Blue - Is used in the cassette or waste holding tank, the bit where all the toilet Waste goes.

Green - Is used in the same way as the blue but if the campsite you are staying on use a septic tank, this is the product you will need to use in your toilet waste tank

Pink - For the flush box or flush tank. Cleans the bowl when you flush, keeps the toilet smelling fresh and gives off a nice smell. Some setups don’t allow you to get access to the flush box. That could be because it uses the water from an onboard tank. Check your manual.

So now we know what those bottles of coloured fluids do, we are all set to go camping. “Wait a minute,” they also sell them in sachets or liquid tablets. “What!” Don’t panic, just like the bottles of fluid. Simply drop a single sachet into your cassette toilet/waste tank. No measuring necessary, no mess, no spills. The sachet breaks down once in contact with water. They can be more expensive. Instructions are on the bottles or tubs on what you have to do. Shop around for the best prices and check out other people's reviews for the best ones to use. Available from all good camping shops, DIY stores, some supermarkets and Online shops,

The basics are -
Blue - Waste tank
Pink - Flush box
Green - Waste tank if campsite have a septic tank (Ask when you book)

Make Sure you take enough toilet fluid to last you for the whole of your travels. You don’t want to run out and get caught short.
