Campervan Television

Some people love them, some people hate them. And I'm not talking about Marmite. We keep getting asked on social media if we have a TV in our campervan. Now I know some people don't like the idea, which is fine. But we like having a television in our van. If we have been out all day, we find it nice to relax in the Campervan with a bit of TV. We use a normal 240v cheap 19" Freeview TV that we had in one of our spare rooms in our house. From one of those big out-of-town tech stores. You know the one. starts with C and ends with Y's. Other big stores are available.

We also use a Roku streaming device that plugs into the back of the TV via an HDMI socket. The Roku is great for free film channels and live TV channels. Like The Roku Channel, W4Free Movies and TCL Movie Channel to name just a few. Live TV channels from Pluto TV, Plex, Stremium, FOXD Network TV, and TV Hub I could go on. There are also the iplayers from the BBC, ITV, All4 and My5, and UKTV Play. If it's subscription TV you are after. Then  SKY, Now, Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and all the other big channels are on there too. Oh, and we can't forget YouTube. How would be able to watch all you vloggers without YouTube. And it is better to watch your videos on the big screen. Plus sports channels and games too. Roku uses wi-fi so I use the data from my phone. I get a lot of data each month. Or you can connect to the campsite wi-fi.

So where do we have our TV set-up. We purchased a headrest bracket from Gallant Camper Solutions. Now they explain it better than I could, so this is taken from their website - gallantuk.com

The TV/Monitor Headrest Mount enables you to securely attach your TV to any headrest quickly and easily without the need for a permanent fixing. The mount is perfect for Campervans and Motorhomes, and can be moved to another seat or even another vehicle if you wish. The mount has the VESA Standard connecting plate with 75mm and 100mm hole centres and will hold most TV's from 14” up to 27”.

We have the bracket attached to the back of the driver's headrest, giving us great viewing from either the sofa or the bed when the bed is set up.

To receive Freeview channels on the TV, we use a small aerial from August International UK. Check out their website  augustint.com

This small, compact, and lightweight aerial is great for receiving

Freeview TV (They say it's also good for receiving DAB radio signal but I haven't tried that). Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the magnetic base on the bottom of the aerial increases reception capability and it does work really well. Just attach it to a metal surface like a fridge or the side of your van and this is an effective way to boost signal strength.

So that's are TV set-up. But what's your TV set-up.
